Family & Peer Support


Family Support Groups

These groups encourage ongoing family education and emotional support. Members share their own knowledge and experiences and learn new information pertinent to the health, mental health and developmental disabilities fields. Effective access and empowerment approaches are emphasized.

Peer Support Groups

Support groups for children, adolescents and adults including those with developmental disabilities.  Group members are encouraged to share their feelings and discuss issues affecting their health, social, emotional and/or interpersonal growth. Members exercise personal empowerment and self advocacy and are encouraged to focus on issues such as health and consumer education, daily living skills, legal and political rights and responsibilities, access to health and community resources or other issues of interest or importance to the group members.
